About

My name is Sophie and I am 20 years old. I live in Denmark and have been with horses since the age of 6. From that very moment I knew that it was where I was supposed to be…

I have always been that weird kid around horses. The kid that did otherwise than the others. The kid that rode bareback and bitless. The kid that didn’t want to attend competitions. The kid that didn’t want to ride standard dressage. At the beginning people just looked at me like I was crazy, but things slowly changed. Suddenly they were impressed rather than shocked when they saw me cantering around in the arena on a pony who only wore a neck rope or when I took of to ride in the nature without anything but a rope halter. Those things mights sound like nothing big, but at the time it was not really something people did. At least  not here in Denmark so much that people knew what it was. Through time I got very used to being this girl who always did weird stuff and because it always felt so natural to me to act this way with horses it never occurred to me to take notice of their wondering and judgy looks.

I started finding my own way and before I got old enough to have my own horse, I rode a lovely Connemara mare called Sacha. She was the one who travelled with me through bitless and bridleless riding. Who taught me bareback riding and galloped with me through the fields. With her I learnt a lot about myself and my way with horses. I remember how I took her for walks side by side in only a neck rope and how I felt our togetherness on these trips even though she sometimes walked more than 10 meters behind me without any ropes attached. The naivety and blind trust of a child made me believe that she would not leave me at any point and neither did she.

In 2013 the year finally came where I had my first horse. My dream horse, Alvaro. He was a 3yo stallion at the time and had not experienced much in his life. It became my job to introduce him to the world and everything that follows. It was my first time working with an almost untouched horse and without having much knowledge on what to do or how to do it I grew with the job and with Alvaro. I have later on met people who does amazing things with their horses and who provides me inspiration and hope. In 2015 another little man came into my life. Torrin of Talisker showed up and I knew from first sight that he had to live with me. Since then we have all been evolving together and individually while slowly walking our own paths. Together we have started a journey that will never end and this is only the beginning…

I can only thank my teachers, Torrin & Alvaro, who has taught me more than anyone else!

    • Hej Emma. Mange tak for dine søde ord!
